Overview

Ordering snacks at the movies is frustrating

Long lines, juggling snacks in the dark, and leaving your seat mid-movie disrupt the experience. Moviegoers want convenience without missing key moments.

SOLUTION & MVP

Bringing snacks to your seat, stress-free

SnackFlicks allows moviegoers to pre-order snacks, track delivery in real time, and have them brought straight to their seat

Pre-Order Snacks

Browse the snack menu and place your order before arriving, so everything is ready when you are.

Real-Time Order Tracking

Track your order status live and know exactly when it’s on the way.

In-Seat Delivery

Get snacks delivered directly to your seat without missing a moment of the movie.

Empathize

Identifying moviegoers' pain points and snack-ordering frustrations

User Persona + User Journey

Based on research findings, I focused on frequent moviegoers who crave convenience and minimal interruptions, mapping their snack-ordering journey from arrival to seat delivery.

Storyboard

I created storyboards to visualize the user's struggles and daily routines to better empathize with their pain points.

Survey

Before designing SnackFlicks, I surveyed moviegoers to validate pain points and identify key needs. The findings highlighted frustrations with waiting in line, snack juggling, and disruptions.

Competitive Analysis

I analyzed both direct and indirect competitors to understand existing solutions, focusing on convenience, speed, and user-friendly ordering experiences.

Research Synthesis

After conducting user research and synthesizing data, I identified key pain points through affinity mapping

Ideate

Designing solutions to enhance the movie snack experience

User Flow

After conducting exploratory and market research, I developed a comprehensive user flow for the SnackFlicks app

Prototype

Bringing designs to life

Low Fidelity Design

I created low-fidelity wireframes to quickly visualize core layouts, user flows, and key features

Usability Testing

I conducted usability testing with three target users to evaluate the low-fidelity prototype’s structure and flow.

✅ Users liked the simple and clean layout of the wireframes.
✅ They appreciated how easy it was to follow the main task flow from home to checkout.
✅ The concept of pre-ordering and seat delivery felt convenient and exciting, even in early designs.

Pain Points

❌ Users found some screens cluttered and confusing.
❌ The navigation bar placement and icons were not intuitive and caused hesitation.
❌ Users suggested having clearer labels and more visual hierarchy for action buttons.

Crafting a Better Experience

What I learned

  • Constant testing and iteration helped me identify small but impactful improvements that made the experience more intuitive.

  • Designing for both snack ordering and the movie experience taught me how important it is to streamline flows without overwhelming users

  • From QR scanning to real-time tracking, I learned that small features can significantly enhance user satisfaction when thoughtfully implemented.

Future Iteration

While SnackFlicks currently focuses on simplifying snack ordering and delivery, I envision expanding the experience to include the entire movie journey. In the future, users should be able to seamlessly pick a movie, choose seats, and order snacks - all within one smooth, unified flow
